The planning department’s land use services have included thematic mapping and geographic analysis according to the American Planning Association’s Land Based Classification System (LBCS); coordination between land use plans and zoning ordinances; and the formulation of land use classifications and corresponding area maps that respond to community needs. In addition to land use planning and development, GCR also specializes in right-of-way management and acquisition; urban and transportation planning services; community-wide risk assessments; formulating mitigation strategies and prioritized action agendas; and generating detailed maps that illustrate the potential effects of hazards upon the subject community.
